Fresh from yesterday’s highly successful Wallingford Car Rally, I’ve been spending some of today editing the images I took for the event. All being well, there may be one or two of these in the Oxford Mail tomorrow so do look out for them if you can.
It turned out to be a really fun day and packed with many ‘firsts’ for me. The day started with me climbing aboard the back of an open German Fire Truck from the 1990’s. Whilst it was part of the parade it was fully equipped to handle fires but proved a remarkably comfortable perch and great vantage point from which to take photos of the rally as it paraded through Wallingford town centre. Thank you to Simon for being kind and not setting the siren off! The second of the firsts came soon after when I was asked to don a bright yellow helmet and goggles before being allowed right in on the action whilst the Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue service demonstrated how they would rescue someone in the event of a serious traffic accident. That ‘someone’ was Mike Brewer, the presenter of Wheeler Dealers. My third and final ‘first’ was a trip out in a beautiful 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 – I had the choice of a few supercars to go for a spin in, but the vintage Ferrari won hands down. Wonderful!
I will be continuing to edit the pictures, and rather than adding the photographs from the day on this site, I am uploading them all to my Flickr page so please take a few minutes to have a look. If you would like to purchase any, please contact me direct. 7″ x 5″ prints cost just £10 each 10″ x 7.5″ are priced at £15.
